Felipe Castelblanco is a multidisciplinary artist, researcher, and filmmaker working at the intersection of participatory, film, and Media Art. His work explores institutional forms, creates platforms for inter-epistemic dialogue, ventures out into new frontiers of publicness, and engages unlikely audiences in remote places. Felipe earned a Ph.D. from the Kunstuniversität Linz (Austria) and the Basel Academy of Art and Design FHNW, and holds an MFA from Carnegie Mellon University (USA).
Felipe is the founder of the Para-Site School (2011-2021). His current research explores human and vegetal alliances and biocultural peace-building through participatory art and film in the Andean-Amazon region. He is a recent Postdoctoral artistic researcher with the SNF Project Plants_Intelligence. Learning Like a Plant (2022-2025) hosted at the Institute Art Gender Nature HGK Basel FHNW. Currently a lecturer for the MA Transversal Design with the Critical Media Lab at IXDM – HGK Basel.
